Well, that's it, all packed and ready to go. A suitcase full of toys, generously donated my my friend's children, and a host of football jerseys of all shapes and colours. Many thanks to everybody who kindly gave of their money, tome, effort and not a little generosity, and I hope I can do you all justice over the next week.

The Niall Mellon Township Challenge - 2005

In about 9 days time, myself (Oisín Ó Murchú) and about 700 others are setting off on a trip to South Africa, where we hope to play a small part in improving the lives of some of the people living there.
The Niall Mellon Challenge (http://www.mellontownship.com) is a voluntary effort where a team of builders (and others like myself) head off to build houses in townships in Cape Town for a couple of weeks. This year, the trip is divided into two groups - one lot of 250 going out the 28th October for a week, and the second lot going out the 4th November for a further week. Hopefully, us lot in the first group will have a few houses built by then the rest of the trades can come in and finish off.
I'm hoping to use this blog to document, in words and a few pictures, the time we spend out there, as well as some of the fundraising efforts which have taken place to finance the trip.
